Search are delighted to be recruiting now for a Design Manager to join a major independent Scottish main contractor based in Perthshire.
Due to increased workload and company growth strategy, this prominent contractor are looking to recruit a Design Manager with technical/design experience to work predominantly on pre-construction & tender stages of both current and new projects.

Purpose of Post:
The purpose of this role is to manage preconstruction activities and design aspects of simultaneous projects from tender through to completion.

Key Activities:
Working with tender/estimating teams to prepare the tender submission by reviewing and advising on all matters relating to Design.
Assisting the Tender Auditing process
Supporting the H&S and CDM aspects of the design
Where appropriate reviewing BIM objectives and ensuring compliance with requirements
Appointing & Managing the design teams, the design development process and the interface with specialist sub-contract design elements to provide construction information for our delivery teams
Ensuring designs are developed within the constraints of the contract/ programme, the requirements of the output specification and the commercial parameters.
Coordinating the whole design process and working closely with the Client, employer's representatives, design team and legislative bodies.
Organising and chairing design co-ordination and design progress meetings with the design team and sub-contractors and ensuring that design risk and opportunities are reviewed
Preparing formal progress reports on the design process.
Client management and interaction to report on design progress and issues.
Maintaining a professional approach with clients and their professional teams, sub-contractors and suppliers
Providing design management support to company site acquisition & developments

Essential Experience Required
Managing the design process for a contractor Leading on commercial control and reviewing the design development process

Qualifications & Training
RIAS, MIAT, RICS, MCIOB or equivalent design professional membership
CAD / 3D design / BIM technology - Desirable, though not essential

Knowledge
Full understanding of the construction process from inception, through design to on-site construction and handover Understand both private and public-sector project procurement processes

Remuneration
On offer is a negotiable salary, circa 50,000 + car allowance and benefits.
